Ezequiel Montero and Renault have sealed both championships after winning the Brazilian Grand Prix. After what it looked like a promising qualifying for Argenis Riera starting from Pole Position, it all quickly went downhill for the defending champion in the initial laps. Riera was put under tremendous pressure from Montero and decided to pit early only to come out right behind Martinez in the second Renault. This ultimately led to a collision and a retirement for Riera on lap 18. This meant that Montero only needed to finish 8th or better to clinch the championship, and so did he by winning the race. Otto Acosta had a remarkable comeback after starting last on the grid and finishing second, while Sasha McHenry scored his first podium by finishing in third just ahead of his teammate Cory Mackey.
